Possible projects for Google Summer of Code can be find in different locations.

Please include the following in your proposal:

1. A detailed description or design document of your project proposal
2. A approximate schedule/time-line
3. A short list with descriptions of past projects that you have participated in
4. Short introduction of yourself
5. Contact information

Some selection criteria

• Proposals are longer than a few sentences
• The proposal is written in good and understandable English

• The student knows the appropriate programming language(s)
• The student is familiar with the process of creating software

The following are conditions that result in automatic rejection:

• Google has specified that groups are not allowed. Individuals only.

Application Template for GSoC

Describe yourself

• Name
• University / current enrollment
• Short bio / overview of your background
• Tell us your IRC nick with which you will use the group's IRC channel

Your Skills

In your application let us know

• What platform do you use to code? Hardware specifications and operating system
• Did you code in C++/Lua, yes/no? what's your experience? Did you contribute to other similar projects?

Prepare for the Project

• Set up your platform to build a GIT snapshot of the current state of Spring
• If you need help, ask on the forum, or in the IRC/lobby.
• Report success on the forum

You and Spring

• Were you involved in development for spring in the past? What was your contribution?
• Were you involved in other OpenSource development projects in the past? which, when and in what role?
• Why have you chosen your development idea and what do you expect from your implementation?

Your Project

• Whats your goal? What do you want to archive?
• Why did you select the specific project?
• What makes you suited to carry the project?
• How many time do you plan to invest in the project before, during and after the Summer of Code (We expect full time 40h/week during GSoC, but better make this explicit)?
• Please provida a plan of how you will spent the time on the subtasks. At the beginning of GSoC you will require such a schedule and issue weekly progress in the weeks of GSoC.
