Mods with incomplete support:
*BloX (transporters unsupported) - AI can't figure out that guns go on tankbases to make a tank.
*1944 & Epic Legions (requires a unique method of destroying parts of the enemy base)

Known Crashes:
*None

=== How to compile on Linux ===
* download spring sources [http://spring.clan-sy.com/dl/spring_0.76b1_src.tar.bz2 here], and extract it somewhere
* download RAI sources [http://www.fileuniverse.com/spring/ai/RAI%20v0.553%20source.rar here], and save it into the ''{spring source}/AI/Global/'' folder
* install the glew development package - on ubuntu it's ''sudo apt-get install libglew1.5-dev''
* open the project in CodeBlocks - there's a project file for CB provided in the RAI/CodeBlocks directory
* then edit the sources a bit to have them be more crossplatform friendly - atm they use a windows function to create folders.
** in RAI/Global.cpp, edit line 4 to say ''#include <sys/stat.h>'' instead
** in RAI/Global.cpp, edit lines 157-158 to say:
*** mkdir( "AI/RAI", S_IRWXU | S_IRWXG | S_IROTH | S_IXOTH );
*** mkdir( "AI/RAI/Metal", S_IRWXU | S_IRWXG | S_IROTH | S_IXOTH );
* at this point, it'll compile fine, but give some warnings about int floats. The problem is that it doesn't generate a .so somehow though, so some voodoo magic needs to be done
** Go to project properties, and under Build Targets, enable 'auto generate extension'.
* now use clean the project, and recompile the whole thing. You ''should'' get a RAI.so in the CodeBlocks directory.
* to test, put the .so into ''~/.spring/AI/Bot-libs/'', and since SpringLobby will see it right away, try a single player game.

=== http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/2653/ubuntulogowq2.png Ubuntu ===

We now have a maintained and up to date APT repository for Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy). If you have some older version of ubuntu, you can easily upgrade to Gutsy with these instructions: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading.

Pick your way below to get started:

==== Graphically ====

Go to System → Administration → Software Sources, and click on the Third-Party Software tab. Then, click the ﹢Add button, and paste the appropriate line (depends on if you're on Ubuntu 7.10 or 8.04) in:

'''Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon"''':

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main

'''Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron"''':

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu hardy main

Click on the ï¹¢Add button once more, and paste one of these lines in:

'''Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy Gibbon"''':

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main

'''Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy Heron"''':

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu hardy main

Then click Close, and Reload. After that's done, head to System → Administration → Synaptic Package Manager, and search for ''spring''. For the bare essentials, you'll need to install the spring, spring-lobby-springlobby, and spring-maps-default. More maps are avialable there, so check them off if you'd like to get them. After you're done, click on Apply, and Spring will be downloaded & installed.

Spring lobby can be found in Applications → Games. (Please note that you also need mods to play, and they aren't yet avialable in the repository. Scroll down to the Mods section of this page on how to get those).

==== Or the terminal ====

Press alt-F2 to run a command. Enter:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/springproject.list

Copy and paste the following into the file:

Ubuntu 7.10:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main

Ubuntu 8.04:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu hardy main

Save the file. You can then either use the graphical package manager Synaptic (System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager) and search for spring related packages, or just install spring from a terminal using:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install spring spring-lobby-springlobby spring-maps-default

Other packages are available in the repository. If you want to download a few maps, for instance, you can do following:

sudo apt-get install spring-maps-1v1 spring-maps-teamplay spring-maps-hunterw spring-maps-deltasiege spring-maps-smallsupreme

==== Other information ====

The webpage for the repository is here - you can browse other spring packages there as well: https://edge.launchpad.net/~spring/+archive

For configuring the lobbies, you can note that the package installs the Spring executable at
/usr/games/spring
and
read-only data in
/usr/share/games/spring
.

IF the above do not work, read the following forum post regarding downloading Spring using the Synaptic Package Manager (GUI).

Spring lobby can be found in Applications → Games. (Please note that you also need mods to play, and they aren't yet avialable in the repository. Scroll down to the Mods section of this page on how to get those).

==== Or the terminal ====

Press alt-F2 to run a command. Enter:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/springproject.list

Copy and paste the following into the file:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu gutsy main

Save the file. You can then either use the graphical package manager Synaptic (System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager) and search for spring related packages, or just install spring from a terminal using:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install spring spring-lobby-springlobby spring-maps-default

Other packages are available in the repository. If you want to download a few maps, for instance, you can do following:

sudo apt-get install spring-maps-1v1 spring-maps-teamplay spring-maps-hunterw spring-maps-deltasiege spring-maps-smallsupreme

==== Other information ====

*** mkdir( "AI/RAI", S_IRWXU | S_IRWXG | S_IROTH | S_IXOTH );
*** mkdir( "AI/RAI/Metal", S_IRWXU | S_IRWXG | S_IROTH | S_IXOTH );
* to test, put the .so into ''/usr/lib/spring/AI/Bot-libs/'', and since SpringLobby will see it right away, try a single player game.
